Douglas Lim’s CNY Video Ads for KIA are Horribly Delightful, Delightfully Horrible

It’s the same story every time a major festive holiday rolls along – Petronas or a similarly gargantuan Malaysian corporation will put out an ad that will so uplift your spirits and reaffirm your faith in humanity. As a brand jostling for some of that sweet, sweet public attention, how do you even compete with a sentimental juggernaut like that?

If you’re KIA Malaysia, you go the other way and hire the country’s funniest a-hole to direct the most reprehensible online CNY ads ever. And hope they go viciously viral.

Well, KIA, you win.

You locked down comedian Douglas Lim and got him to lend his, uh, unique voice and vision to three ads, ostensibly focusing on KIA’s Family-like Care customer service package and bouncing off the filial spirit of Chinese New Year. See how hilariously excruciating that went down:

Thank you, KIA. Thank you, Douglas. You guys win the Internet. Gong Xi Fa Cai.
