KL – Singapore High Speed Rail System Still On Track

Nothing says your meetings are important to you than to zip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore in just 90 minutes, but that’s precisely what you’ll be able to do – eventually – as the proposed High Speed Rail link between the two cities is on schedule to be completed.

This was revealed after the 10th Malaysia-Singapore Joint Ministerial Committee Meeting for Iskandar Malaysia (JMCIM) in a joint statement by both countries. The meeting was held in Singapore, and was co-chaired by Singaporean National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan and Malaysian Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar.

The proposed KL-Singapore Hight Speed Rail system, spanning 330km, was announced by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong last February. The project, estimated to cost USD12bil (RM40bil) should be completed by 2020 if all goes according to schedule.
