MH370: pilot was responsible for diverting the plane, expert says

According to an expert source cited by USA Today, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah who piloted missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, is believed to be solely responsible for diverting the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft under his command from its intended flight path on March 8.

The unnamed official – designated as a “high-ranking officer attached to a special investigative branch of the Malaysia police force” – told USA Today that no one else on Flight MH370 had the expertise or experience to execute those manouvers, not even co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid, who at 27 was relatively new to handling a wide-body jetliner such as the 777-200ER.

However, 53-year old Zaharie’s intentions are still unknown, as police investigators have not found any links between the pilot and any terror group, or discovered any personal or financial problems that might have had driven him to forcefully plunge the plane, and the other 238 people on board, to their deaths.

Investigators are now pressing Zaharie’s family members for information that could shed light on the circumstances of Flight MH370’s disappearance.

The New Straits Times earlier reported Zaharie’s son, 26-year old Ahmad Seth, to have refuted allegations that his father might have been at fault for crashing the jetliner.

The youth discounted the possibility that his father had deliberately downed the plan, saying: “I’ve read everything online. But I’ve ignored all the speculation. I know my father better.

“We may not be close as he travels so much. But I understand him.”
