Chegubard has been suspended from PKR

The disciplinary board of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) announced today that it has imposed the suspension on the membership status of one of its most vocal firebrand speakers, Badrul Hisham Shahrin, popularly known as Chebubard, effective immediately.

Chair of the disciplinary board Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong said the Chegubard, who is also the head of the Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) movement, will be on suspension indefinitely until investigations into his misconduct during recent party elections have been concluded.

Tan added that the decision to suspend Chegubard was reached by the members of the disciplinary board yesterday, in a meeting presided by PKR party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

“Badrul Hisham will be handed a show cause letter and will have his party membership suspended until investigations are concluded,” Tan said in a statement today, as reported by The Malaysian Insider

He said the offence reported against Chegubard was that of making unauthorised statements to the media concerning the PKR party electoral process.

Chegubard has been stirring up attention of late by declaring to the press that the PKR party elections recently held have mired in corruption and a lack of transparency.

Tan also said the suspension was imposed after Chegubard made an open accusation that PKR’s Central Voting Committee (JPP) officials were agents in the employ of PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

When contacted by The Malaysian Insider, Chegubard claimed ignorance of the party’s decision to suspend him, and denied having received a show cause letter from the disciplinary board.

“I had no idea until you told me about it. I also haven’t received any official correspondence about the matter,” he said when asked for comment.

“I will abide by any decision, nonetheless; for now, I’ll wait and see, and will comment further once this issue has been resolved.”
