Awie investigated by police over wife’s beating

After photos of a battered woman believed to be his wife spread online, rock legend Awie admitted that he had been called to give statements to the police in connection to the investigation on the assault on his wife, Rozana Misbun.

Previously, Awie, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, had denied to comment on allegations that he was the rock artist who reportedly assaulted his own wife at a bank near Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.

According to Gua.com.my, Awie insisted his family matters very private and would not share any details with the public.

“The report never said the rock artist was me. So why  should I comment? There are a lot of rock artists in Malaysia, not just me,” he had said.

“I’m not denying or confirming anything. Family matters are very personal to me, so it’s better if I say nothing. I’ll only weigh in if there’s a shred of proof that I’m the man in question.”
