Get cracking: Red Lobster opens in Kuala Lumpur today

Thw world’s largest seafood restaurant chain is opening its doors in Kuala Lumpur today – say hello to Red Lobster!

Red Lobster was founded in 1968 by American Bill Darden, and has established itself acorss the States as the go-to family chain for seafood. The brand currently has more than 700 restaurants spread out across the US, Canada, South America, the Middle East and Japan.

KL’s Red Lobster restaurant will be Southeast Asia’s first, and is the result of a partnership between the Secret Recipe Group and Dardens Restaurants Inc.

The Malay Mail Online reports that last year, Secret Recipe also signed agreements with international chains Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse, also owned by Dardens Restaurants Inc., to open and manage their outlets in Malaysia.

The restaurant’s sifgnature offering is – surprise! – their “live” Maine lobsters, prepared either steamed or roasted, with a crab and seafood stuffing. Red Lobster is also famous for its Cheddar Bay biscuits.

Prices start at RM9.90 for soups, RM26.90 for main entrees, and RM32.90 for signature seafood combo platters.
