Update your Waze: Nine roads in KL have been renamed

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has announced that nine major roads in KL have been renamed, to take effect beginning tomorrow.

KL Mayor Ahmad Phesal Talib said he had received the consent of the Cabinet for the name changes, which would serve to honour Malay rulers who had reigned as the Yang d-Pertuan Agong.

The roads affected by the change are as follows:

  1. Jalan Duta will be renamed Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim
  2. Persiaran Duta will be renamed Persiaran Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin
  3. Jalan Khidmat Usaha will be renamed Jalan Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah
  4. Jalan Ipoh (from the Jalan Segambut junction to the Jala Pahang junction) will be renamed Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah
  5. Jalan Khidmat Setia and Jalan Ibadah will be renamed Jalan Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin
  6. Lebuhraya Mahameru will be renamed Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar
  7. Persiaran Mahameru will be renamed Persiaran Tuanku Jaafar
  8. Jalan Semarak will be renamed Jalan Sultan Yahya Petra

Phesal said DBKL will be informing Pos Malaysia of the changes to avoid confusion over mailing addresses, according to the New Straits Times.
