Plan to smuggle RM7 million worth of drugs via courier and air cargo foiled

Cops foiled an attempt to funnel an assortment of drugs worth RM7 million through courier and air cargo this month.

According to federal Narcotics CID director Noor Rashid Ibrahim police seized the 35.2kg worth of drugs during raids on a courier services company on Nov 19 and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Cargo Complex on Tuesday.

“The Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (STING) raided a courier services company in Petaling Jaya at 5.30pm on Nov 19 and seized 2.3 kg methamphetamine worth about RM400,000. All the drugs were found in six boxes containing electrical equipment such as heaters, cookers and kettles sent from China using a courier service company,” Bernama quoted Noor Rashid as saying at a news conference.

Police had found cocaine weighing 32.9kg – that’s RM6.5million – stashed into in six black bags at the airport cargo complex.

Noor Rashid said the bags had been declared personal items and were sent to KLIA from Nigeria via Cairo on Egypt Air.
