And the best restaurants in KL this year are….

Malaysians are fanatical about food. Don’t believe us? The recently concluded Time Out Kuala Lumpur Food Awards 2014 could shed some light about that.

This year, 84,000 votes – the largest number of votes received since the awards began in 2009 – were cast over a period of four months to select winners from various categories including ‘Best Fine Dining’ to ‘Best Cheap Eats’ and ‘Best Place for Coffee’.

Nineteen ‘makan’ spots won these awards while 93 others were recognised for its sheer awesomeness.

‘It’s no surprise that Malaysians are fanatical about food. Still, it’s fascinating for us at Time Out KL to see how engaged our readers are. Every year the votes come in more ferociously and this year, it’s at a  record-breaking 84,000 votes. That’s how hungry KL-ites and KL diners are for good food,’ said editor of the city guide magazine, Lim Chee Wah.

This year’s awards were supported by Carlsberg, Somersby, Kronenbourg1664, Asahi, Perrier, Wolf Blass wine, Pop The Soda and venue host for the night, Connexion @ Nexus.
