Ex-supermarket security manager sues police, Malaysian government for alleged abuse

An ex-supermarket security manager is taking on Goliath (read: the police and the Malaysian government) for allegedly causing injury and negligence during his detention.

S.Selvarajah, 55, sued both parties for RM600,000 in October, naming investigating officer Inspector Mohd Hanis Abd Wahab, Police Retirees’ Affairs Management assistant director ACP Zakaria Pagan and Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and the government as defendants one to five respectively, Bernama reports.

Selvarajah alleged that during his Sept 4,2012 detention at the Kepong police station, he had been blindfolded and beaten up after lodging a report about a robbery in Tesco Selayang.

Due to injuries sustained in the alleged assault, Selvarajah said he has been unable to work.
