A couple of days ago, we found a photo floating online of a page from a school workbook featuring a most progressive innovation: a family tree (under the header “Keluarga Harmoni”) that depicted two men forming a family with four children.
Welcome to the liberal, LGBTQ-friendly future! Well not really.
Penerbitan Bagus Sdn Bhd, the publisher of the book, now identified as Temanku DSKP Sejarah Tahun 4, has posted an announcement on its official Facebook page:
Sorry, bleeding heart liberals: the publisher insists that the page in question was the result of a printing error, and has pledged to put out a corrected second edition of Temanku DSKP Sejarah Tahun 4.
Penerbitan Bagus (how bagus can these guys be, anyhow?) is also recalling the first edition of the book off bookshelves right now, and offered an apology for their oversight.
When contacted by CoconutsKL on Facebook, a representative of the publisher had this to say: “pembetulan akan dilakukan kepada semua bahagian jika ada kesilapan termasuk bahagian gambar “keluarga harmoni”..sekian harap maklum.” (“corrections will be made to all relevant sections that contain errors, including the section featuring the “harmonious family”.”)
Oh well. We’ll always have this, forever and ever:
