Clip of punch-up at KFC outlet goes viral

Kicks flew and punches thrown, while in the background, a woman orders a ‘snack plate’.

This was pretty much what happened in the 36-second video of a fight between (at least) two of the fast-food chain’s Jalan Raja Laut outlet employees that went viral over the weekend.

In the clip, a female employee appears to be verbally abusing another individual just before another staff enters the frame with a flying kick. This happened in full view of customers waiting to make their orders. The punch-up then moved into the kitchen.

The Rakyat Post’s G. Surach reports that the target in this fight was a delivery boy. The video has received over 1,700 shares.

Meanwhile, KFC Malaysia posted a statement on its Facebook page, explaining that the fight “occurred between two siblings over a private matter.”

Its vice-president M.J. Ling said the company was now investigating the incident. “The incident that happened last night at the KFC Jalan Raja Laut outlet involving our staff is highly regrettable.”

“KFC conducts extensive training on what is expected of our staff when working at our restaurants, but obviously this has failed on this occasion. Rest assured that we will improve on our existing programs, so as to avoid incidents of this nature from happening again,” Ling said.

This isn’t the first time that KFC has been a viral sensation. Back in 2012, KFC Malaysia apologised to a customer who had been assaulted by one of its employees at its i-City branch. A clip of the incident went viral over YouTube.
