RM1.5 mil in aid given to farmers in flood-hit areas

The devastating floods that have ravaged several states in Malaysia since December have not only wiped out entire villages and homes but also destroyed the livelihood of farmers in the region.

To help farmers get back on their feet the National Farmers Organisation (Nafas) delivered aid worth RM1.5 million to 106 Area Farmers OrganisationS (PPK) in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Perak, Kedah and Perlis, Bernama reports.

“Each PPK received total aid worth RM5,000 channeled through the State Farmers’ Organisation (PPN), we also provided farming inputs such as seeds, fish seeds and saplings. Nafas has also provided schooling aid to 6,000 farmers’ children in the state,” its chairman Datuk Seri Saipolbahari Suib said.

There are 850,000 farmers signed up with the PPK and PPN nationwide.
