ISMA: Muslims who say they love Hindus are destroying Islam

Did they go there? Of course they went there. They’re ISMA.

Controversial Malay-Muslim rights organisation Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (ISMA) slammed the action of a headscarf-wearing Muslim woman, who is depicted in a photo that has gone viral online holding a placard that says “I’m a Muslim, I love Hindus”, as harming the faith of Muslims in Malaysia.

The woman, apparently a representative og the Young Interfaith Peacemaker Community of Indonesia (YIPCI) took the photo while attending the Thaipusam festivities in Batu Caves on Monday. The placard she holds up in the photo also linked her to the World Interfaith Harmony Week 2015 event, a UN-sanctioned annual programme promoting interfaith understanding and cooperation.

ISMA information chief Mohd Hazizi Abdul Rahman said that Muslims demonstrating their appreciation or solidarity with other faiths could jeopardise the strength of Islam itself, and points to liberal propaganda guilt-tripping Muslims into being more sympathetic towards non-Muslims.

“The conviction of Muslims — that Islam is the only true religion is being blamed as the reason behind racial discord and the cause of disharmony,” Mohd Hazizi wrote in a blog post on ISMA’s official website

“The baseless accusations have been successful in convincing a group of Muslims to feel guilty and to be apologetic over something that does not exist and to get involved in campaigns that could destroy their faith.”

Mohd Hazizi also alleged that such interfaith campaigns are financed by foreign parties who are determined to convince Muslims that other religions are equal to Islam – an allegation that he did not furnish with evidence.

“It is strange that there is the ‘love other religions campaign’ targeted at Muslims, when, in reality, Muslims are the victims of religious hatred in Palestine, Myanmar, France, Netherlands, in the African continent and other countries,” he added, as quoted by The Malay Mail Online.
