Azmin Ali denies he will replace Anwar Ibrahim as Pakatan Rakyat leader

Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali denied rumours that he would be appointed the next leader of the Federal Opposition, following the imprisonment of current leader Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

Azmin, who was sworn in as Selangor MB last September, concurred with DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng that the issue of who would take the reigns of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition was still up for discussion.

“We will have a meeting to discuss the question, tentatively this Friday,” he told The Malaysian Insider Melati A Jalil and Low Han Shaun.

“We have many leaders in Pakatan Rakyat… Many of them are able and competent enough to lead PR and as opposition leader.”
