#KitaLawan’s pro-Anwar rally to proceed, with or without police approval

A mass gathering in support of jailed Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim slated for March 7 will go ahead as planned, even if the event fails to receive police approval.

The gathering’s organiser, #KitaLawan, however said during a press conference yesterday that it would nevertheless meet with the PDRM to get their approval to ensure that the event would go smoothly.

The gathering is set to take place in front of the Sogo shopping complex in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman on Saturday, March 7, at 4pm.

“We will give our full cooperation to the police and hope they will give the approval,” said #KitaLawan secretariat coordinator Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who is also PKR Youth leader.

Also at the press conference were DAP Youth chief Teo Kok Seong, PAS Youth treasurer Mohd Fakhrulrazi Mohd Mokhtar and Jingga 13 chief coordinator Fariz Musa, The Sun Daily reports.

Apart from expressing support and solidarity with Anwar in the face of his five-year prison sentence for sodomy, the gathering is also aiming to urge Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down from office after he had “failed to carry out his duty as the leader of the nation”.
