Five undocumented immigrants hid in a trash heap in Nilai construction site

Three men and two women, all undocumented workers from Indonesia, resorted to hiding away in a pile of trash at the Nilai Impian construction site where they worked, in order to avoid detection by the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department.

Sadly for them, the ploy didn’t work.

NS Immigration Department director Faizal Fazri Othman told Harian Metro that as part of the nationwide Ops Ikrar initiative, his officers had raided the 430-unit Nilai Impian hpusing project, following a report that undocumented workers (PATIs) were employed there.

During the raid, Faizal said several PATIs chose to make a run for it, including the five who decided to lay low in a trash heap near a wall.

“The immigrants’ efforts to escape were unsuccessful, as our officers worked swiftly to apprehend them. We also uncovered the hiding place of the five Indonesians who hid,” he said.

The raid resulted in inspections on 114 foreign nationals, from which 61 PATIs were arrested, inluding 51 Indonesians.

Also cofiscated during the raid were weapons in the form of scythes and parangs, believed to belong to members of the Sakera Madura gang.
