A pox on your spelling: Student gets five days off from school with an MC for “chicken chop”

Hey, you never know. It could have been a case of indigestion.

A secondary schoolgirl was let off for five days when she received a medical leave certificate from a clinic certifying that she was down with … chicken chop?

That’s what it said, right there on the MC.

The patient was actually down with chicken pox, and was issued the MC so that she could be excused from attending school for the week.

A photo of the MC and its amazing typo has been circulating through WhatsApp, no doubt making for excellent conversation over lunch, and maybe pushing public opinion towards ordering the fish ‘n’ chips instead.

The Rakyat Post‘s G Surach spoke to a staff member at the clinic that issued the MC, who apologised for the mistake and clarified that it wasn’t the doctor who signed the certificate who made the typo.

“It was an inadvertent error on our part. On behalf of the clinic we would like to apologise profusely for the mistake.

“The doctor has also admitted the error and we would like to move on from here,” said the staff member, who declined to be named.

Also, finish your vegetables or you won’t get any dessert.
