Police: Don’t attend Saturday’s #KitaLawan rally — it’s illegal

Police have issued a warning to the public to stay away from the #KitaLawan rally in the city this Saturday.

Bernama reports that police will take action against those present as it was an illegal gathering.

Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah was quoted as saying: “”The organisers have failed to send a notice to hold the gathering as per the procedure according to the law and police can take action against anyone who pose a threat to peace and harmony.”

The organisers, Zainol reportedly said, will have to take responsibility for anything that could transpire at the rally. “The organisers must be responsible for anything that happens during the gathering because police have already warned them,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

The street demonstration — planned after the Federal Court’s decision to keep the Court of Appeal’s guilty verdict on Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim for sodomy — is expected to happen at 3pm in front of the Sogo building.
