Mydin to absorb GST, prices to remain the same

Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd said all its supermarkets and hypermarkets will bear the Goods and Services Tax (GST) — enforced from today, replacing the Sales and Services Tax — as their way of lightening the burden of the people.

Its managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin told Bernama that shoppers can still get their usual items at the same price.

“Currently, we will bear the GST cost because we want the best for all customers of the Mydin network, MyMydin and Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M). So, the customers need not panic and can continue to visit Mydin to get their needed items,” he was quoted as saying.

Since the weekend, shoppers have been crowding the city for last-minute purchases just before the implementation of the GST today.
