Things are reportedly heating up offline as the “minister vs royalty” verbal battle continues to dominate social media conversations.
Malaysiakini reports that a rally has been planned to take place at Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Bahru.
According to the portal, messages asking the people of Johor to show love and support for Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar and the Johor royal family have been circulated over social media. The rally is reportedly set to take place at 4pm.
Sultan Ibrahim’s son, Tunku Ismail has been engaged in a public verbal battle with Culture and Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz ever since the 31-year-old crown prince weighed in on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s no-show at the ‘Nothing2Hide’ forum on June 5.
Over the weekend, Nazri and the Crown Prince sparred indirectly over social media, after Nazri warned Tunku Ismail to not take sides in ongoing conflicts between national leaders, presumably referring to the tensions between Najib and former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Reports said yesterday that Nazri was to be called in to give his statement to the police in connection to a case of public mischief and not sedition as previously thought.
The Crown Price had also posted this intriguing video on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, recently:
