WTF: Non-Muslim primary school students allegedly told to drink their own pee during Ramadan

It seems like besides being the month for all things holy and serene, Ramadan in Malaysia also plays host to all sorts of (alleged) shenanigans when it comes to racists and religious zealots running amok and ruining things for everyone.

Before the first week of fasting is even through, we have an image of a letter of complaint, purportedly railing against a senior teacher at a primary school in Sungai Petani, Kedah, who told non-Muslim students there to not drink water in class or in sight of their Muslims schoolmates, but to do it in the restrooms.

Not only that, but, “if they don’t have water to drink in the restrooms, they can drink the tap water or their own urine.”

YIKES.

The teacher allegedly made the remarks during school assembly on Sunday morning. Kedah is one of several Malaysian states that begin the school and work week on Sunday.

Here’s a screencap of the letter, as shared by the Friends of Barisan Nasional Facebook page:

The letter was signed by the “next of kin” of the school’s non-Muslim students.

With the screencap going viral, the Education Ministry has announced that it had ordered an investigation into the matter.

Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan took to his own Facebook page to address the allegations:

Malaysiakini reports that it has information on which school in Sungai Petani was involved, but is withholding its name until more details into the case are clarified and confirmed.

MORE TO COME
