The Wall Street Journal, the newsportal at the centre of Prime MInister Najib Razak’s current worries since it published a story last week alleging the PM received almost USD700 million (RM2.65 billion) in funds from 1Malaysia Development Berhad into his personal bank accounts, has now made public documents purporting to show how those transactions were made.

The documents are also available as a PDF download.

Included in the released document scans are a remittance application form, a cash deposit authoirisation letter, and charts outlining the flow of cash from one account to another. The WSJ maintains that it sourced these documents “from a Malaysian government investigation”.

According to the documents, two transfers worth RM27 million and RM5 million were made on December 26, 2014 to a recipient listed as AmPrivate Banking – 1MY. The published documents show another RM10 million was transferred to the account on February 10, 2015.

The transfers were described on the forms as being for a “CSR (corporate social responsibilit) programme”.

Also, a letter appearing to be from Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil to the branch manager of AmIslamic Bank Bhd was also made availabl‎e online over three banking accounts.

In the letter, it is stated that “given the respective schedules of both the Account holder and myself, (including various international trips and meetings scheduled and ‎other potential ad hoc travel requirements) I believe that there will be occasions where I may not be available to provide necessary transfer and remittance instructions to the Bank”.

PM Najib serves as the chairperson of 1MDB’s advisory board. 1MDB is also fully owned by the Finance Ministry. Najib’s secondary portfolio in the Cabinet is as the Finance Minister.
