1MDB office raided by police

The office of sovereign investment fund 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been raided by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM). 

The raid on the Menara IMC, Jalan Sultan Ismail office began at around 11.30am this morning, and is still ongoing. 

The Star Online‘s Hemananthani Sivanandam reports that the newspaper’s reporters attempted to reach the office, but were told by the recptionist that the PDRM and 1MDB had given instructions that no one was to be allowed access to the office, located on level 8. 

“Even the dispatch people are not allowed in as they don’t want to be disturbed,” said the receptionist.

1MDB is currently under investigation by a special task force comprising of Bank Negara, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the PDRM, and the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
