Most of us know that weddings can get a little, well….uncomfortable sometimes.
But in Pantai Dalam on Saturday, things escalated rather fast.
A Kosmo report details what transpired at the wedding of a 27-year-old security guard, who was seen in a video getting punched by the bride’s family for failing to pay the hantaran (dowry) in full.
The man, who reportedly earned a monthly salary of RM1,500, had agreed to pay his bride’s family RM15,000 in dowry. A payment of RM10,000 had been made before the wedding with the remainder still unpaid at the time the nuptials were set to take place.
Dissatisfied family members of the bride then refused to allow the ceremony to take place at the at the Masjid Jamek Al-Khadijiah. As the groom walked away, an epic fight broke out between the two families.
A video of the incident — in all its flying-slipper glory — has since gone viral. Both families have reportedly lodged police reports.
