A video showing a durian seller ‘spitting’ on each packet of the fruit before wrapping them up has gone viral online, drawing the ire as well as disgust of netizens.
The two-minute clip was believed to have been recorded at a Petron petrol station in Taman Sri Gombak in Kuala Lumpur at 3.30pm on Wednesday. Within a few hours, the video has been broadly shared on Facebook and WhatsApp.
In the clip, the man was shown making a small movement with his head before he cling-wraps each packet of fruit. Netizens who scrutinised the clip concluded that he was indeed spitting on them.
According to The Star Online, the police will be contacting the man, who, according to Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad, is Indonesian.
“We will call the worker involved and will investigate the matter. If we find that there was any wrongdoing, we will take action in accordance with the law,” he said.
Ali also added that the police went to the stall on Wednesday night, but the seller wasn’t there.
