It was a scary moment for a few travelers when an escalator at the Miri Airport suddenly broke apart without warning.
State assistant minister for air transportation Datuk Lee Kim Shin told The Star Online that, thankfully, no one was hurt in the Sunday incident.
Lee added that there were some people at the bottom of the escalator, but they managed to get off before the escalator broke apart.
“The escalator suddenly broke apart without warning due to a sudden technical malfunction. Airport engineers are already at the site to investigate what had happened,” he was quoted as saying.
According to Astro Awani, the state government has requested Malaysia Airport Holding Berhad (MAHB) to change the escalators at the airport following the scary incident at 3pm.
