Explosion at Puchong nightspot leaves eight injured

An early morning explosion at a nightspot in Puchong has reportedly left eight people injured.

The Star Online reported that the blast happened at 2.15am Tuesday at the establishment in IOI Boulevard while patrons were watching a Euro 2016 football match.

Puchong Fire and Rescue Department chief of operations Mohd Hisam Mat Yasih was quoted as saying that they received a distress all at 3am.

Police meanwhile, have reportedly denied that the explosion was an act of terror.

Instead, Selangor deputy CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar told The Star Online, the probe will look into whether the attack was fueled by business rivalry, vengeance, or if the suspects were targeting specific individuals at the nightspot.

DCP Rahim was further quoted as saying that the explosion was caused by a hand grenade.

The victims, including a Chinese national, were sent to Hospital Serdang and Hospital Sunway for treatment, the news site reported.
