Malaysian sneaks into Fukushima Exclusion Zone to take insane pictures

What would you do to take the perfect photo?

For one Malaysian, this means sneaking into a radioactive wasteland without proper safety gear and permit and risk growing another head.

The photographer, one Keow Wee Loong, recently uploaded photos of his forbidden ‘adventure’ onto his Facebook page and we got to admit, the photos are pretty amazing:

His photo album, titled Fukushima exclusion zone (No man’s land), has since been shared more than 48,000 times on Facebook.

In the Facebook posting, Keow also detailed how he managed to sneak into the exclusion zone.

“Before I went there, the authority told me that I need a special permit to visit this town and it takes 3-4 weeks to get the approval from the local council,” he wrote. “Well, too much bureaucracy bullsh** for me..so I just sneak in the forest to avoid cops on the road.”

He even described the feeling he got the moment he stepped into the ‘red zone’.

“When I enter the red zone, I can feel a burning sensation in my eyes and thick chemical smell in the air.”

Umm, we don’t think that’s a good thing, bro.

While his photos have undoubtedly taken the internet by storm, there are a lot of Netizens who criticised his actions for not taking the necessary safety precautions as he was seen in most pictures wearing only short pants, slippers and a gas mask.

Dubbed the worst energy disaster since the 1986 Chernobyl incident, the nuclear catastrophe at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant was triggered primarily by the tsunami following the Magnitude 9.0 Tōhoku earthquake in March 2011.

Due to three nuclear reactor meltdowns and the release of radioactive material, Japanese authorities have implemented a 20km exclusion zone around the power plant due to insanely high radiation levels.
