Man found dead inside locked car at petrol station

A man was found dead inside a locked car at the Simpang Pulai petrol station located on the North-South Expressway on Monday.

According to Bernama, the victim was found in the driver’s seat of a Perodua Alza with its engine still running.

Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station Senior Fire Officer II Nor Zamri A. Wahab told the news agency that fire and rescue personnel at the scene initially thought the man, in his 50s, was asleep in the vehicle.

They reportedly broke the vehicle’s rear window at 10.30am to alert the man, but found him unresponsive.

Medics later confirmed that the man had died in the car for about 30 minutes after he had refuelled at the petrol station.

“The petrol station workers found the engine of the car running and tried to get the man’s attention but there was no response,” Nor Zamri was quoted as saying, adding that the victim’s remains were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for a post-mortem.
