A student was hospitalised after she was allegedly slapped by a teacher for shaving her eyebrows last Tuesday.
According to The Star Online, Nursyahida Zulkifli — a Form Three student at a school in Tanah Merah, Kelantan — was allegedly slapped three times at the back of her head by the teacher.
The teacher’s action reportedly caused Nursyahida to vomit, and she was hospitalised. The news portal reported that she expecrienced a nerve problem.
The student’s mother, Zakirah Zahari, told The Star that the slaps could have aggravated her daughter’s old injuries, sustained when Nursyahida reportedly fell in the bathroom last year. It was reported that she had been warded for two months as a result of the incident.
The incident came to light when Nursyahida’s father posted the ordeal on his Facebook page last Tuesday. The story was then picked up by website OhBulan!.
Meanwhile, The Malay Mail Online reports that Deputy education minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan will visit the school on Tuesday.
He also advised teachers to not result to violence when disciplining their students.
“Teachers need to be patient towards the pupils. They should find other ways and means to find a solution to solve an issue rather than being violent,” Kamalanathan was quoted as saying
