AirAsia passenger says ‘ada bomb kot’, gets hauled up by police

Uttering the word ‘bomb’ in airports (or worse, inside a plane) could get you into serious trouble. Someone found out the hard way, today.

AirAsia today confirmed that its flight to Banda Acheh from klia2 had to be delayed because on of its passengers said the b-word.

The New Straits Times reports that flight AK423 — with 123 passengers and six cabin crew — was scheduled to depart at 7.45am today.

“As a precautionary measure, a bomb threat search was conducted by the authorities and the situation was handled according to the standard operating procedures when dealing with such situations. The aircraft was declared safe by the authorities. All guests on board the aircraft have disembarked safely and the disruptive guest was arrested by the authorities for further investigation,” the airline said in a statement as reported by the NST.

Sepang police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Ali told the daily that the plane was about to take off when one of the flight attendants heard a passenger say the word ‘bomb’.

“One of the passengers only uttered “ada bomb kot” (maybe there’s a bomb). The passenger was later taken to the klia2 police station for further action. Our investigation showed that the passenger has no element of safety threats,” he was quoted as saying.
