Chilling videos of armed robbery go viral on social media site

A woman avoided serious injuries when she was mugged by an robber carrying a parang on Wednesday.

According to The Star Online, the incident reportedly happened at a residential area in Ara Damansara at around 3.40am.

The chilling robbery attempt was captured on CCTV, and two videos went viral on Facebook:

In one of the videos, a blue Perodua Myvi was seen stopping at a boom gate while a white Honda Civic pulled up right behind them.

Suddenly, a man in a black T-shirt and grey shorts was seen exiting the Honda Civic and rushed over to the Myvi while brandishing a long parang.

Panicked, the driver of the blue Myvi drove slowly through the boomgate.

However, a second video clip — which is 35 seconds long — shows the attacker running towards a woman believed to be a passenger from the blue Myvi who had stepped out of the vehicle.

The attacker can allegedly be seen trying to slash the woman with the parang as he made off with her handbag.

The suspect then reportedly fled the scene.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din told theSun that they have received a report on the matter and the police are currently on the hunt for the suspects.

“Yes, we have a police report pertaining the incident. We are now viewing the CCTV and have initiated a manhunt to track down the suspect,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for robbery.
