No entry: AirAsia officially bans Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on all flights

Sorry, Samsung fanboys! If you own a Galaxy Note 7, you’re not getting on an AirAsia flight.

That’s because the budget airlines announced on its Facebook page on Sunday that those carrying a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will not be allowed to board any of its flights.

According to the posting, the rule was implemented in accordance to the recent US Department of Transport’s ban on the device.

And yes, that includes replacement units.

“Guests are not permitted to carry the Galaxy Note 7 – including recalled and replacement devices – on their person, in cabin bags, in check-in baggage or as cargo,” the airlines said in the posting.

Those who attempt to sneak in the device will be denied boarding, AirAsia added.

The ban, according to AirAsia, will take effect immediately.

AirAsia is not the first airlines to ban the Galaxy Note 7, though.

On Friday, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has reportedly banned the device from all airlines in the United States.

Then, Australian airlines Qantas and Virgin Australia followed suit, with the ban reportedly taking effect on Sunday.

The battery of the Galaxy Note 7 has been known to catch fire and the South Korean company officially ended the production of the device last week.
