It took him almost 30 years of trying, and his hard work finally paid off.
A 72-year-old man from Sabah literally struck the jackpot when he won a jaw-dropping RM37 million in the Power Toto 6/55 Jackpot in the Sports Toto special draw on October 4.
The man, who is a retired teacher, told The New Straits Times that his winning combination — 18, 20, 33, 51, 52 and 53 — was derived from his mobile phone number.
“When I am free, I love to play with numbers and that was how I came up with the set of winning numbers,” he was quoted as saying.
According to the daily, the System 8 ticket he bought not only bagged him RM37,181,388.25, he also won an additional RM40,200 to make the prize money a grand total of RM37,221,588.25
And get this; the man also told the daily that this isn’t his first time winning big in the jackpot.
“I won RM37,000 when I was young. I must be blessed that God has gifted me RM37 million in my old age,” he told the NST.
At the moment, the man does not have any plans on how to spend the prize money, but he reportedly promised to share it with his family.
Oh, the generous man also shared a tip on how to win the lottery.
“My other winning tip is that I bet in every draw. I would never miss a draw as I learned from my past experience,” he was further quoted as saying.
