Free bus service for Sepang and Selayang to begin next month

A free bus service by the Selangor state government will now be available to those living in Sepang and Selayang next month.

The Selangor Smart Bus — launched first in Petaling Jaya back in 2014, when it was known as Selangorku Bus — is currently operational in Klang, Shah Alam and Subang Jaya.

Trial run for its Sepang service — which include two buses with a capacity for 40 passengers — is set to begin next month.

The service has been scheduled to start at the KL International Airport and head towards KLIA 2, ERL Salak Tinggi, Sungai Pelek and finally Tanjung Sepat, The Star Online reports.  Interval between buses has been set at an hour and 30 minutes.

“There is a need for such a service but we will only be providing two buses currently for the route. If the response is good, then we will write to the state government to ask for more buses,” Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) president Datuk Datuk Puasa Md Taib was quoted as saying.

In Selayang, the free bus would travel on one route, starting May 1: beginning at the Selayang Stadium and moving to the Gombak police station, Hospital Selayang, Selayang Baru, Batu Caves, Greenwood, International Islamic University Malaysia before stopping at the Putra Terminal, Gombak.

Authorities have proposed that four buses were dedicated to this service, with a 30-minute interval.
