RM1,000 compound from June 1 for households that don’t separate garbage

You’ve got less than one month to get this right.

A RM1,000 compound will be put in place from June 1 for households that fail to separate their garbage.

Waste separation was enforced from Sept 1 last year in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Pahang, Johor, Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Kedah, but no fine was imposed at the time.

The Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation (SWCorp) deputy chief executive officer Datuk Zainul Abidin Abdullah said the nine-month gap was to give people time to get into the habit.

“So far, the implementation was well-received by resident associations and the compound will further increase public awareness,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

Come on, now. Get your bins sorted, save the planet and your wallet.
