Following his audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has announced that he has received the palace’s consent to stay on in his capacity of Selangor Menteri Besar.
In a statement just issued, Khalid explained that until further developments, he will remain Selangor MB and will execute his duties as usual.
“I had an audience with DYMM Tuanku this morning to inform His Royal Highness of the situation on the office of Menteri Besar following my expulsion from PKR,” he said, as reported by Astro Awani.
“Following that briefing, His Royal Highness asked if I could still garner the confidence of the majority of the Selangor State Assembly.”
“I answered that despite my recent expulsion, I can still receive majority support from the state assemblymen,” he said.
Khalid added, “His Royal Highness seemed satisfied with my explanation and has consented to my continuing my service as Selangor MB.”
“Until there are further developments, I am still Selangor Menteri Besar, and will continue to carry out my duties as usual.”
